What is muesli?
Muesli is a mixture of various cereal flakes, nuts, seeds and dried fruits that is eaten as breakfast or a snack.
By using high-quality organic ingredients and avoiding additional sugar and artificial additives, Verival's whole grain muesli is an ideal choice for a nutritious start to the day.
Muesli basic ingredients and variations
The base of muesli usually consists of oat flakes, but other types of grain such as wheat, spelled or rye can also be used. At Verival we use whole grain muesli.
These are mixed with nuts (such as almonds, walnuts), seeds (such as chia, flax seeds) and dried fruits (such as raisins, berries).
There are numerous variations that can contain chocolate, coconut or spices such as cinnamon to refine the taste. There are therefore no limits to the muesli preparation.

Different types of muesli
There are different types of muesli, including classic muesli, Bircher muesli, crunchy muesli (also known as granola or crunchy), as well as gluten-free and vegan versions.
Bircher muesli, one of the best-known variants, contains oat flakes as well as grated apples, nuts and lemon juice, which makes it particularly fresh and nutrient-rich.
You can order this entire variety of muesli in organic quality from Verival.
The history of muesli
The muesli was developed at the beginning of the 20th century by the Swiss doctor Maximilian Bircher-Benner, who was looking for a nutrient-rich, easily digestible dish for the patients of his sanatorium.
The term “muesli” is derived from the Alemannic word “Mus”, which means “porridge” or “puree”. The well-known Bircher muesli also comes from him.

Where does muesli come from?
The diverse grain mixture has its origins in Switzerland. The word “muesli” comes from Swiss and means something like puree or porridge. The Swiss Dr. Maximilian Oskar Bircher Benner is said to have developed the concept at the beginning of the 20th century in order to be able to recommend a wholesome and nutritious meal to his patients.
Apparently he had the dish, the later Bircher muesli, himself Eaten on a mountain pasture for the first time. He enthusiastically developed it into a diet food that supports a healthy diet. The fact that the muesli quickly became very popular was not only due to its healthy composition. But also because it was easy to prepare and had a unique taste. Because if there's one thing muesli isn't, it's complicated.
Where are Verival mueslis and breakfast products made?
All of our whole grain muesli and organic breakfast products are manufactured and packaged by us in our own production in Langkampfen in Tyrol (Austria) and then shipped by us.
Is muesli really healthy?
The most important ingredient in muesli is oats. Oatmeal contains lots of fiber and vitamin B. This healthy fiber boosts your metabolism first thing in the morning. The long-chain carbohydrates in muesli also keep you full for a particularly long time.
But there are other ways to eat oats. One of these would be granola, also known as crunchy muesli or crunchy. Baked oat flakes refined with natural sweeteners such as honey or maple syrup.
As a last alternative, we offer you our porridge. A gluten-free protein source. Quick and easy to prepare in the classic way or according to your mood. With milk or water, berries, nuts, fruits and whatever you feel like. A healthy and nutritious breakfast that you can't go wrong with.
All of these options are based on oats. Lose weight or simply enjoy a healthy and delicious breakfast, oats combine both.
